Follow these detailed instructions to install and activate TurboTax 2024 with your license code.

Step 1: Check System Requirements

Before starting, ensure your computer meets the TurboTax 2024 system requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later / macOS 11 or later.
  • Processor: 1 GHz or faster.
  • Memory: At least 2 GB of RAM.
  • Hard Drive Space: 1 GB for installation.

Step 2: Download TurboTax 2024

  1. Online Purchase:
    • Go to the TurboTax Download Center.
    • Log in with your Intuit account credentials.
    • Find your purchased product and click Download.
    • Save the file to your computer (usually in the "Downloads" folder).
  2. Retail Purchase:
    • Insert the TurboTax CD into your computer’s CD/DVD drive.

Step 3: Start Installation

  1. For Downloaded File:
    • Locate the downloaded file (e.g., TurboTax_2024.exe for Windows or TurboTax_2024.dmg for Mac).
    • Double-click the file to start the installation wizard.
  2. For CD Installation:
    • If the installation doesn’t start automatically, open your CD/DVD drive from This PC (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

Step 4: Follow the Installation Wizard

  1. Select your preferred language and click Next.

  4. Click Install to begin the installation.

Step 5: Enter the License Code

  1. During or after installation, you’ll see a prompt to enter your 16-character license code.
  2. Locate the license code:
    • Physical Purchase: Printed on the CD sleeve or an insert in the box.
    • Online Purchase: Found in your email or TurboTax account under "Order Details."
  3. Enter the code exactly as it appears (letters and numbers, case-sensitive).
  4. Click Next to validate the code.

Step 6: Complete the Installation

  1. Wait for the installation process to finish.
  2. Once complete, click Finish to close the installer.

Step 7: Launch TurboTax 2024

  1. Open TurboTax from your desktop shortcut (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac).
  2. TurboTax will verify your license code one more time online.
  3. After verification, you can start using TurboTax to prepare your taxes.
